A Naturally Sparkly Holiday! Peeking Into Kathy's Home Decorating...

So I started early. I'm trying to be super organized this year since things at Sparkle and Ink have been so busy! I started to dream up my decorating theme early, taking inspiration from some of the great online sharing sites like Pinterest, Twitter and Instagram, and dreaming up ideas that tie in with my new living room decor. I decided to go with a natural theme this year. I am a little tired of the typical colors of Christmas and Hanukkah, and trying to decorate with a little of both. I decided that a natural look with a touch of sparkle, was the path to my holiday happy place.

Fast forward a few days, when on a chance trip to Michael's during a sale and with a coupon (of course... never go to Michael's with out a coupon), I found some great shimmery christmas balls and ribbon. Combining that with a roll of burlap that I already had, I created this...
Which looked like this on the whole mantle...
But it needed something else. Every year, I try to design a new way to display the awesome holiday photo cards that we receive (I LOVE THEM). As much as I love to create cards, I love to get cards as well. And I love to celebrate all of the creative greetings that we receive. Then I remembered... I had seen something on Pinterest! But what was it? Luckily I had "liked" it, so it was easy to find...
Needless to say, I was inspired. So off to Michael's I went to find some branches (regular and sparkly of course), and a container to hold these lovelies. After a little rearranging of the mantle, and the addition of 2 giant pine cones, which I couldn't resist..... drum roll please..... voila!
And as you can see, I've already hung 2 cards, kudos to those of my friends and fam that were WAY ahead of the game this year. I thought I was in good shape! I'll post pics as I add more cards to the tree. But isn't the crackled sparkly vase fun?

On that same trip to Michael's, I also had picked up a vine wreath frame. With the addition of a little burlap and some sparkly ribbon (same ribbon) here's the result...

Welcoming guests to my naturally sparkly home...

Then, I was catching up on some blog reading, especially those by Michael of "Inspired by Charm" who has done a great job of showcasing some of his Christmas decorations, and I found this! I guess it's a burlap kind of year! Great minds Michael, great minds...

How are you decorating this year? Did you make any of your decorations? Get any great deals? Let us know, and PLEASE share any holiday sparkle that you have used or have planned! All friends who post on this entry will be entered to win a blingified Sparkle and Ink magnet.
